Searching “Popeyes” on Google News yielded 136 results spread over 14 pages when I searched the restaurant on the night of November 14. For a week now, there seems to have been a new viral Popeyes tweet everyday. Popeyes has reintroduced their chicken sandwich and the hits just keep on coming.
What shines through in the news that the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is generating is that predominately Black people are extremely passionate about Popeye’s new sandwich and the establishment in general. Unfortunately, violently so. There has been property damage, a murder, racial clashes, fist fights and at least on robbery at Popeyes after they introduced their chicken sandwich. Traffic is fucked and there is a lawsuit regarding the availability of the sandwich.
The Popeyes Chicken Crime Wave is a storied one. Other than the clientele, the problems ostensibly are in part due to demand. The issue with the demand for Popeyes dovetails into an issue with traffic.
TheTakeOut has it that in New Jersey,
“What we are seeing is people waiting an extraordinary amount of time on both drive-thrus to get a sandwich or coffee without consideration for those vehicles not trying to get into the establishments.”
Furthermore, traffic in NJ is also backing up on the three lane highway Route 17. According to northjersey.com,
At the Rutherford Popeyes, police have been struggling to deal with backups stretching onto Route 17 southbound caused by an overcrowded drive-thru and parking lot at the fast-food chain.
According to the New York Post, in Los Angeles, the city and county with the most traffic, a woman destroyed her Mercedes in an attempt to cut the Popeyes line.
The poultry-crazed motorist was filmed slamming her gray Mercedes into some concrete bollards in an apparent attempt to cut the drive-thru line at one of the fast-food chain’s Los Angeles locations, according to a video posted on Instagram Tuesday.
Even a crowd of onlookers yelling at her failed to get her to back up and end her attempt to jump the long line.
“Damn! Damn, you’re f–king your shit up!” shouted one witness as the side paneling on her luxury ride scraped and bucked against the parking lot poles.
The volume and types of people filling Popeyes is something else these days. The demand for the sandwich and whatever else is so great, one Popeyes in Texas was recently caught employing underaged labor to keep up with demand. It doesn’t seem that a boy would be equipped for the job. According to FOX News:
A customer at a Popeyes restaurant in Texas was shocked when he witnessed a young boy working in the kitchen.
According to the customer, the boy looked to be about “9 years old” and was seen “handling raw chicken before giving it to a male staff worker who went on to cook it.”
The above problems are pedestrian in comparison to the list of crimes going down at Popeyes.
The Popeyes chicken sandwich is spurring on robbery, menacing, assault and murder.

The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. Monday when a group of about five people went to a Popeyes in Houston to get the buzzed-about fried-chicken sandwich.

There was a tray fight in San Antonio TX.
A video shared on social media shows a local Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen employee and customer getting into a chicken fight over the fast-food chain’s popular sandwich. The video was recorded at the location at 2225 SW Military Dr. around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to KSAT.
A woman at the restaurant told the station that another customer, who she suspects had been in the drive-through, came inside and began yelling at an employee at the cash register. It didn’t take long for the worker to grab a tray and hurl it at the complaining customer.

A California couple fight…
Two couples came to blows at a drive-thru in Temecula in yet another fight over Popeyes chicken.
This chaotic scene captured on Friday night quickly escalated after over an hour wait in line.
“Everybody started fighting. And they all fell down and the big man was trying to get at him. It was just, it was a free for all,” Gigi M. Drummond, the unsuspecting drive-thru patron who recorded the video, said.
A group of people was already in the line at the restaurant in the 6200 block of Livingston Road when Davis arrived about 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. For 15 minutes, he methodically cut in front of people to get to the front of the line, where he was confronted by McClain, police said.
After a brief argument, Davis and McClain got out of line and exited the restaurant, and McClain immediately stabbed Davis one time, according to police.
According to NBCWashington, the suspect below allegedly murdered the man for Popeyes in Maryland.
